Современные технологии могут не только значительно упростить творческий быт музыканта, но и по-настоящему изменить его жизнь. Об этом не понаслышке знает барабанщик Джейсон Барнс — в 2012 году он потерял руку во время происшествия на работе, что вынудило его отказаться от музыкальной карьеры. Но ненадолго — участие в проекте Georgia Tech Centre for Music Technology в 2013 году подарило Джейсону надежду на возвращение за барабанную установку.

Для Джейсона был разработан протез с искусственным интеллектом. Устройство, оснащенное специальным чипом, работает в сочетании с программным обеспечением Google TensorFlow с алгоритмами машинного обучения. Чип считывает мышечную активность барабанщика в виде электрических сигналов, а затем передает команды на компоненты протеза с минимальной задержкой. По словам самого Барнса, протез ощущается максимально похоже на нормальную руку — ему больше не приходится подстраиваться под устройство, как это было раньше. Теперь протез сам подстраивается под него.

Technology for musicians: artificial intelligence prosthesis gave one-armed drummer Jason Barnes an opportunity not to give up his favorite hobby

Modern technology can not only greatly simplify a musician's creative life, but can also really change his life. Drummer Jason Barnes knows this firsthand: in 2012, he lost his arm in a workplace accident that forced him to give up his music career. But not for long - participation in the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology project in 2013 gave Jason hope for a return behind the drum kit.

An artificial intelligence prosthesis was developed for Jason. The device, equipped with a special chip, works in conjunction with Google's TensorFlow software with machine learning algorithms. The chip reads the drummer's muscle activity in the form of electrical signals and then transmits commands to prosthetic components with minimal delay. According to Barnes himself, the prosthesis feels as much like a normal hand as possible - it no longer has to adjust to the device as it used to. The prosthesis now adjusts itself to him.
