The first book-biography of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham has been announced. The foreword to the book, called Beast: John Bonham And The Rise Of Led Zeppelin, was written by Dave Grohl. There's nothing offensive about that title. "The Beast" is Bonham's actual nickname on par with Bonzo The edition is set to hit shelves in the U.S. and the U.K. on September 7, 2021.
The book describes the entire short life of the great drummer. A man who sat down behind a drum kit at the age of five, at twenty was considered a cool professional but an impossible man, and at twenty-one redefined the whole world's concept of what drums mean in rock music. Then his scandalous behavior, his drinking and fighting started to come to the foreground - when he was drunk he didn't know how to behave at all. And at thirty-two he died of alcohol poisoning.

"We Three", пластинка записанная за одну сессию 14 ноября 1958 года, стала первой американской студийной работой Роя Хейнса, в качестве бэндлидера. Вместе с пианистом Финеасом Ньюборном и с басистом Полом Чемберсом. Насыщенная техника Ньюборна здесь работает в тандеме с прохладной утонченностью Хейнса. У этого трио была недолгая звукозаписывающая карьера, но, как показывает этот солидный сет, они сделали все самое лучшее.

Haynes/Newborn/Chambers - "We three" (1958)

Hard bop

"We Three" recorded in a single session on November 14 1958 was the first American studio date as a bandleader for the diminutive and legendary jazz drummer Roy Haynes although with pianist Phineas Newborn on board along with bassist Paul Chambers it really is a set dominated by Newborn whose busy two-handed technique here works in tandem balance with Haynes cool refinement. This trio had a brief recording career together but as this solid set shows they made the best of it.
