On September 3, a tribute concert to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was held at London's Wembley Stadium.

The musician passed away in March at the age of 50. Not only Foo Fighters took part in the show, which lasted almost six hours, but many special guests, friends and favorite musicians of Taylor. The concert was broadcasted live on the official MTV Youtube channel.

There were enough unexpected moments within the show - the concert opened with a joint performance of the Foo Fighters musicians and Liam Gallagher. Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgan Van Halen played his father's band hits "On Fire" and "Hot For Teacher" with Dave Grohl, The Darkness vocalist Justin Hawkins and drummer Josh Freese, while Grohl's own daughter Vaoilet impressed with a brilliant vocal performance of "Last Goodbye" and "Grace" with her father and fellow musicians Taylor Alan Johannes, Chris Chaney and Jason Faulkner. Them Crooked Vultures, a supergroup lineup that includes Dave Grohl, Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), reunited on stage for the first time since 2022.

The members of legendary Canadian progressive rock band Rush bassist and vocalist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson reunited on stage for the second time in a few months, playing two songs from Rush's golden fund with Dave Grohl and one with legendary drummer Omar Hakim (Weather Report, David Bowie, Dire Straits and many others). So Lee and Lifeson honored not only Taylor Hawkins, but also Rush drummer, the legendary Neil Peart, who passed away from cancer in 2020.

Two AC/DC songs were sung by Brian Johnson (though at first the already mentioned Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins relentlessly tried to take the microphone away from him) with the support of the Foo Fighters and Metallica's Lars Ulrich on drums. For the first time in 16 years, American hard rock legends James Gang, led by Joe Walsh, played a mini-set. Brian May and Roger Taylor honored Freddie Mercury two days before his 76th birthday with a parade of guest vocalists (including Justin Hawkins again, plus this year's Eurovision silver medalist, Briton Sam Ryder, and The Struts vocalist Luke Spiller) and more.

The night was closed with Foo Fighters hits, with the already mentioned Josh Freeze and Omar Hakim, Travis Barker from blink-182, social networking star, 12-year-old drummer Nandi Bushell and son of Queen drummer Roger Taylor Rufus Taylor (aka The Darkness drummer) playing drums.

And in between, as a surprise, an unannounced appearance by Sir Paul McCartney on the poster. He took the stage with Pretenders singer Chrissie Hynde and surprised the packed Wembley audience with the first performance of The Beatles' "Oh Darling!" from the Abbey Road album, not just as a duet, but in his career. And "Helter Skelter" to top it off!

The second Taylor Hawkins tribute concert will be September 27th in Los Angeles at the KIA Forum arena.

Rick Astley plays and sings AC/DC 🤘

'80s pop star Rick Astley is primarily known for his late 1980s hit "Never Gonna Give You Up," so it may surprise some that AC/DC are some of his greatest sources of inspiration.

In an interview for Amoeba, the British singer, musician and singer-songwriter mentioned "Highway To Hell" as one of his favorite albums:

"When I was a kid, I wanted to play drums, and that's why I got interested in music. On this album I learned how to play the drums. People don't believe it because they associate me with Never Gonna Give You Up, but when I was a kid, my older siblings listened to a lot of progressive rock, and I met a lot of bands with great drummers. This is where Phil Rudd plays. If you want to learn how to play drums, play to this CD. It's got the best rock feel. It's a terrific album."

Rick Astley sometimes sits down at his concerts and plays "Highway To Hell."
